Office visits begin with a thorough medical evaluation to determine the pertinent causes of weight gain or a patients’ inability to lose weight. Diseases of the thyroid gland, heart, kidney, adrenals, and sex hormones are all evaluated before creating a treatment plan; our thorough approach to weight loss includes the ability of our patients to maintain their weight loss. This is why we work with a team of registered dietitians to support our patients’ efforts.
Medications for weight loss are “adjuncts” or helpers that we use to boost and support your journey to weight loss and a healthier life.
Obesity is linked with the development of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, liver disease, and a reduced life expectancy. Obesity is a chronic disease, much like the patients we treat for asthma and diabetes. There is no one-size-fits-all approach. To be effective, safe, and sustainable, medical weight management must be personalized to the individual.
Mosaic Men’s Health is here to support your journey to a healthier and more robust life. We are not a pill-pushing weight loss clinic. We incorporate dietary and exercise recommendations into our consultations, treat other comorbid conditions, stabilize hormones, and prescribe weight-loss medications as needed and in support of our patient’s weight loss goals.
Our belief is that weight loss medications are safest when they are utilized for a limited period of time to support our patients as they develop and refine dietary habits, exercise regimens, sleep improvements, and stress management skills. We can then work to wean our patients off of their medication regimens and work closely together to prevent future weight gain.
GLP-1 Agonists
SEMAGLUTIDE & TIRZEPATIDE
GLP-1 is Glucose-Like-Peptide-1. Normally secreted by the intestine, GLP-1 improves insulin function in the pancreas and liver, slows stomach emptying, and increases satiety (how full you feel) after eating. Our patients are losing 10-20% of their body weight over a year of treatment and feeling great!
Phentermine
Phentermine was approved in the United States in 1959 and has been safely used for the past 63 years. It works as a stimulant, increasing norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine in the brain which suppresses appetite. In the body epinephrine and norepinephrine stimulate the breakdown of fat cells.

Phentermine/Topamax
Phentermine together with Topamax provides an average of 7-11% body weight loss over 1 year of treatment. Topamax is a seizure medication. However, patients prescribed Topamax have reported decreased appetite, a faster metabolism, and weight loss. Combined with Phentermine, research has noticed that their effects were synergistic (working better together, then they do separate). Therefore, a combination product of Phentermine and Topamax was created and named Qsymia.

- Topamax is Pregnancy Category X (Unsafe)
Naltrexone/Bupropion

When underlying disease causes your body to send signals of hunger even after consuming the appropriate number of calories, weight gain will occur. Naltrexone as also been shown to reduce inflammation, improve sleep, and decrease insulin resistance.
Bupropion is an antidepressant medication, which raises levels of dopamine and norepinephrine. These neurotransmitters are involved in the regulation of appetite, satiety, and feeding behavior.
- This Medication is NOT a controlled substance
- Studies show patients losing an average of 18 pounds over a year of treatment.
